Frank Fletcher, our owner, and pool guru, grew up in Atlanta, graduated high school majoring in art, metal work and Sculpture while working in a high-end custom auto shop including full restoration and mechanics. He stayed in the automotive business for 15 years while eventually making his way to the Sarasota area in 2001. After buying his first home with a pool and not being able to find anyone capable of serving it in all aspects, he decided to open his own pool company in 2006.
He felt that pool repairs and service was an ideal profession for him in so many ways and saw a huge need in the area for this kind of help. His love of design and the outdoors melding with mechanics, engineering and chemistry made for a company perfectly suited to all his skills and interests. He worked weekends building what eventually became a very successful and award-winning business called ‘Chemistry Pools’. He sold his customer base in 2015 with 150 customers in Florida and moved to Charleston to be with the love of his life, Annie.
Chemistry pools, now here in Charleston, is a full-service Pool company taking care of all the mechanics, electrical, plumbing, installations, renovations and repairs and is Pools of Charleston’s mechanical sub-contractor.
After so many requests in Charleston for new builds Frank teamed up with Valmar Nunes, a seasoned contractor in Charleston to make what we call “A complete full service and dream Pool company called Pools of Charleston. Frank has continued his education and experience by building a customer platform base giving customers and their builders direct and fluid communication on their project. The platform called ‘Builder trend’ has proven to be an incredible asset to both builder and customer in numerous ways. Frank has also gotten his commercial pool builders license and is currently working on a few commercial designs and builds.
He is thrilled to grow this company as Charleston’s newcomers flock to the area. He is grateful for all his blessings in business relationships that he’s made along the way in this beautiful city he calls home.
Valmar Nunes, owner of Pools of Charleston was born in Brazil, but has called Charleston home for more than 25 years. Soon after arriving in the Lowcountry he started up a successful residential and commercial construction company. He later expanded the venture into a custom home building company. With a vast knowledge of the business, he started to invest in numerous real estate properties and chose to pursue real estate along with his construction company. About 2 years ago he teamed
up with his partner, Frank Fletcher, to expand his company after seeing the great need in the Charleston area for Pool building. Nunes in his off-hours enjoys playing soccer, grilling and spending time with his
wife and children.
Douglas Natal, born and raised in Brazil, moved to New York City in 2002 to begin his career in hospitality and management. Perfecting his English, he moved up quickly in management and was given the opportunity to work for a prominent family being their personal driver and assistant. From there, his career blossomed into his own company being a tour guide operator for all of New York City. After 10 years of guiding the big city and with a love of history and hospitality he thought he’d make a change; and in 2015 he headed south for even MORE opportunity, but with a slower pace of life.
Through his numerous contacts and referrals, he was offered another position working for a family in Beaufort, South Carolina where he managed their estate and property affairs. Due to the incredible real estate, and development boom in the south, and his background in property management and hospitality, Doug has spent the past 3-5 years back and forth between Beaufort and Charleston managing construction projects making relationships with his customers and living the southern life he loves. His contribution to pool project, outdoor spaces and landscape management has been the heart to our business and the reason for all of our good customer relations. He’s been happily married to the love of his life, Sayonara, for 15 years.
